The quasi-rectangular segmental tunnel lining is a new alternative for shield driven tunnels in urban railway transportation. It is firstly designed and employed in Metro Line 3 in Ningbo, China for its applicability in high density urban areas. The bearing capacity of this new structure is of great importance during its utilization period, as it is related to the safety reserve. In this study, a full-scale ring test is conducted to determine the mechanical behavior of quasi-rectangular segmental tunnel linings. The design of the tests, the main experimental phenomena and results are described in the work. The research shows that tested quasi-rectangular segmental tunnel lining has high loading safety reservation. The test will lay the foundation for further verification and optimization of quasirectangular segmental tunnel linings.
