  Health monitoring and maintenance priority assessment for tunnel lining by using Tunnel lining Crack Index(TCI)

  The maintenance methodology for road tunnel especially over 50 years old become serious issue by a ceiling collapse accident in Sasago highway tunnel occurred in 2012. Following this accident, MLIT (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism JAPAN) required all administrator the periodic inspections for tunnel lining of road tunnel. A health monitoring for tunnel lining is performed by skilled tunnel inspector. However, the evaluation depends on their experience since the criteria of evaluation are almost qualitative index. One of the authors proposed the Tunnel lining Crack Index (TCI) to qualify the health condition of tunnel lining. In this study, TCI was applied four road tunnels for health monitoring of tunnel lining, compared the crack propagation by using multiple times of tunnel lining crack map, and evaluated TCI.
