Improvement of the ways for detecting spalling and peeling of the concrete tunnel lin-ing is the important challenge so that we prevent concrete lining from peeling and falling off in subway tunnels . Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. developed a method for detecting spalling and peeling using infrared thermography and has tested in actual tunnel. Additionally, because we developed a method using visible images or statistical methodology, we can detect the locations of spalling and peeling overlooked in general inspections and monitor their progression in subsequent general inspections. Moreover, we have developed maintenance indicator θ as a tool for comparing all Tokyo Metro inspection results eliminating variation in inspection results due to differences in subway lines and inspection year. To conduct inspections effectively and efficiently, we have confirmed the method for determining sections that have high probabilities of the occurrence of spalling and peeling. The report describes development of the system composed of the methods for detecting spolling and peeling of subway tunnel lining in detail.
