The Finnoo metro station is the first station in the east on 7 km long West metro extension to the western Espoo. There are two passenger shafts and two technical shafts, one of those in the middle of 23 m wide, 285 m long and 15 m high station hall. To the west ofthe station hall there is a 156 m long, 25 m wide and 15 m high track switching hall. At the other end of this hall rock roof is only 6 m thick and will be supported by reinforced shotcrete arches. There are fracture zones and horizontal jointing in the bedrock. The groundwater is aggressive calling for durable materials in the support measures and careful grouting procedures. 3D-Rock mechanical analyses have been made from station area and 2D-analysis from the track switching hall. Several extensometers have been installed in the area in order to follow the rock mechanical behavior of the underground facilities. During the excavation of access tunnel and western part of the station hall rock stresses have induced rock burst-like noise. The excavation works are now going on.
