Numerical analysis in mixed face conditions: the Lyon metro line B extension project
The Metro line B extension of Lyon (France) is a key project for the future development of the city. This line will connect the South Hospital complex to the rest of the conurbation. The project involves approximately 2.5 km of bored tunnel with a diameter of 9.7 m running from the existing Oullins Station to the future station, close to the Lyon South Hospital complex. The alignment is mostly shallow and partially in densely urbanized areas. Therefore, closed faced TBM has been adopted for the tunnel excavation. The geology is composed of soft soil and granite. Some sections along the tunnel alignment will be in mixed face conditions which represent the most adverse conditions for tunneling. The purpose of this paper is thus to evaluate the induced ground movements around the tunnel at these particular locations. The analysis are carried out by analytical methods (Peck) and numerical calculations.Recipient :
