Duct bank is a widely distributed and shallow buried underground structure. It can easily affected by engineering construction activities. In order to meet the demand of early warning of cracking of concrete and health monitoring of structure. The deformation characteristics of the duct bank was simulated using a three-dimensional finite element method to measure its structural performance. Then a distributed remote monitoring method based on Brillouin optical frequency domain analysis (BOFDA) technology for duct bank is expounded by analysis the relationship between structure settlement and horizontal strain data measured by Optical fiber sensors which is testified by a field test. The result shows that the BOFDA distributed optical fiber sensing technology has obvious accuracy, reliability and advantages in terms of deformation self-sensing of operations duct bank andlay the foundations for smart underground structure.
