As the rapid expansion of urban area, the demand of infrastructure projects has increased continuously, while land area is limited. Therefore, the underground construction has become one alternative. Consequently, shield tunnelling method has become the major construction method in urban area, since this method can minimize ground disturbance and also influence to neighboring structures. This paper identified the coefficient of subground reaction and the initial displacement of excavation surface for the site data in a diluvial layer, using the 3D finite element method continuum model with a displacement boundary, so that the calculated earth pressure acting on a lining agrees with the measured one. Furthermore, the obtained values were examined from the viewpoint of practice. As a result, it was found that the 3D FEM continuum model with a displacement boundary can provide reasonable results.
