The contribution discusses the application of 3D laserscanning for the monitoring of tunnel segment deformation during TBM excavation. The measuring technology allows for scanning segmental linings directly from running TBMs with a high spatial and temporal resolution and accuracy. From static scans characteristic geometric parameters such as segment radius, orientation of segment axis, joint offsets and other features can be processed by application of special data processing techniques. From repeated scans changes of these parameters can be calculated permitting the identification and quantification of deformation. In the current Austrian R&D project TBMonitor a 3D laserscanning system has been developed and tested during load tests on a segment test rig and also in practice in an Austrian TBM project. The developed data evaluation methods and the obtained deformation results are presented and discussed.
