The project is now under construction phase and includes 3 supply tunnels and 2 headrace tunnels with a total length of 15.7 km that shall be bored by NATM concept. To speed up construction 7 adits (2.7 km of total length) shall be bored. Additionally 9 shafts (intakes and surge tanks) are included in the design of the plant. With a maximum overburden of 580 m, soft sedimentary rocks with potential squeezing risk shall be bored. Great number of ‘Quebradas’, streams and rivers associated with faulted and fractured ar-eas are being crossed with great problems of water leakage.
