Structural outlines of the static and geostatic restoration proposed for two railways tunnels in a state of serious deterioration following instability inherent in the original phases of design and realization, which have risked collapse
The tunnel of Catajo, geographically situated between the Padua-Bologna railway line and the eastern fringe of the Euganei hills, was in a state of serious damage originating in malformation of the cladding, manifesting in conspicuous convergences on a section of about 40 m of the barrel facing eastwards. The Catajo tunnel, thus called for its closeness to the famous landmark of the area that is the villa and castle called “Il Catajo”, on the eastern fringe of the Euganei hills, stretches along the Bologna-Padua railway line, between the communes of Montegrotto Terme and Battaglia Terme in the province of Padua. The extremities of this historical tunnel are at 107+115 and 107+775.Recipient :
