Open gallery solution for a tunnel on the National Railway Corridor IV
The article describes the tunneling techniques used for Zam tunnel construction, section Border - Curtici – Simeria, part of Corridor IV PAN EUROPEAN for trains with maximum speed of 160 Km/h. The tunnel, whose section is double and electrified, has a length of 340 m and it is located on the left bank of the Mures river, near Deva, in an area where the slope is in contact with the river. The Zam tunnel passes through deluvium areas at the entrance, middle and exit, on a total length of 90 m and areas with deluvium at the upper part and rock at the lower part. Two types of cross-sections were established, according to the different conditions along the route.Recipient :
