A Study on Development of the Performance Evaluation Index of Tunnels using the Delphi-Method
Currently in South Korea, various social problems are predicted due to aging of the major national structures, and tunnels are under the same situations which are a performance decline, a sudden increase of maintenance cost and risk. The existing evaluation method of tunnels in South Korea has a lot of limitations to be considered of tunnels’ various performances (e.g. durability, usability and etc.), because it is mainly focused on a structural safety such as appearance defects or safety factors. Hence, to deal with the structure aging issues and to keep the tunnels performances sustainedly, the new concept of evaluation method was needed. In this study, the performance indicators of tunnels (railway tunnel and road tunnel) were presented, as the first step of developing procedure to develop the new concept of evaluation method for tunnels. Total four performances (structural safety, durability, usability and physical condition) were considered to evaluate the tunnels in use. Various candidate performance indices were derived through reviewing the existing evaluation manuals, and finally performance indices for four performances were selected using the Delphi-method which is a structured communication Technique.Recipient :
