Design of tunnels for combined traffic motor transport and metro
The paper reviews the experience of design and construction of the two parallel tunnels in Moscow with the diameter of 14,2 m each, designed for the combined traffic: automobiles in the upper level and metro trains in the lower level. A concrete roadway slab was constructed for automobile transport in the tunnels at the level of the horizontal diameter. A new layout and arrangement decision required development of the innovative solutions to provide ventilation, water and smoke removal, as well as a possibility to evacuate people in case of emergency.
